I agree with you, that’s why I used the wording “kind of” a choice.

“Forced out” would have been more correct.

This is correct in the sense that the choice was stay in Canada, become protestant, swear allegiance to the British crown or be forced on a boat, seperated from the home you built and the soil you worked then get forcefully separated from your wife and kids, husbands, friends grand parents and so on, because they were being sent to Haiti and you were being sent to Louisiana, Pennsylvania
England, France, basically anywhere that the British sent you. Some of the acadians were actually sold into servitude, until they heard of Louisiana and either bought their freedom or ran away. this was by no means a simple choice, and i do not blame anyone who made their choice one way or the other. I just felt that the choice was being under represented for it importance.
