Studying needs to be fun if you want to succeed. When it comes to studying languages, for me the fun is in listening to music, watching movies, chatting on the Internet and especially meeting people: I just adore making international friends
Living in Malaysia, there isn’t any TV broadcast in French. The French news I can watch on the Internet goes way too fast for me, so I used software to compensate for the lack of other resources. I agree: we have the luxury of cheap VCDs and the same goes for buying language software: 2$ for a complete CD makes that I have Encarta and you name it, I have got it
Now there are also French books that come with CD’s:
- Horizons I like for the Audio CD and the way they talk about food
- Paroles I love for the interactive CD’s
- A l’aventure is a quite story of a student that wants to study French in France (really what I needed the first time I went to France to study French)
- and Break Through French is ideal when your first language is English, although the people that spoke in the tapes for sure are not from Paris…
Yet these books are not available in your every day bookshop, so again the Internet is the place to go to get educational software free!
I will travel around the Internet and when I find something interesting, I will add it to this French blog
