French language immersion

Did you know you could get a 3 month long French language immersion "for free"?

It needed the marriage of my niece to find out… At the small dinner we had afterwards, I spoke to her little sister who started like me: getting a French scholarship because nobody else is taking them and get your French studies paid for.

The only problem with studying something because there is a scholarship, is that you could end up doing something you don’t like too much. Now I am in love with the French language, but my little niece is in love with traveling. So she wants to become a flight-attendant. Standing on your legs with smile on your face for 12 hours in a row is not really my kind of fun but anyway…

The main thing is that she got offered a job at HSBC bank on one condition: she has to sign a 3 year contract. I would have been interested, but I want to continue my studies, so it’s one or the other, yet for her it would be ideal because…

… the benefit is: the bank will give here a 3 month long French language immersion in France as part of the training!

3 steps how to speak French

Step 1: download or buy a French course

Buy a French textbook or go to our online French lessons at Basic French Phrases . In case you want to buy a French course: there are many French books, French CD’s and French online courses available, so do a little research to find a French book or a French program you think will work for you. Make sure it has French audio, as it is impossible to study French pronunciation without listening to a native speaker, be it a real French or a French CD, or French language tapes. Again, at Basic French Phrases we have French phrases including French audio.

Step 2: Make a French plan!

how to speak frenchNo, don’t start drawing a map of France :-) Make some kind of a plan as to how you are going to do the French course you have chosen:

  • how much time you are going to spend on your French learning? (a week is very optimistic…, once a week is very manageable, 3 times a week is ideal but could be difficult to schedule)
  • how often you will be studying French
  • where you will study French

Schedule your French study times on your calendar.

Step 3: Stick to your French plan!

Stick to your plan and do not miss your French lessons! You will notice how creative you become in trying to skip your French classes: my sis has her birthday, I have too much work, I need to sleep some more….

If you want to learn French: stick to your plan!

Go to Basic French Phrases and if you like it, make a schedule and come back to learn French now!
