The first time I heard about La Rochelle, France was -shhhh- watching the U boat scenes in the movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Oh yes, I only watch movies for education purposes

The second time I heard about La Rochelle was when I was eating glass eels. Oh yes, I only eat for education purposes We were told hey came all the way from France, in particular: La Rochelle.

The third time I heard about La Rochelle is when I got to know Kevin and Sylvie: the driving forces behind FuelMyBlog. Oh yes, I only blog for education purposes (Come to think of it, I need to re-install my FuelMyBlog button…).

Anyway, she had a French letter from her boyfriend in Algeria and she wanted me to translate it. Quite embarrassing if you read somebody else’s French love phrases… and quite strange that the person the letter is addressed to doesn’t speak French.

But who am I to judge? I just was asked to translate, and even for free, so I helped the woman out, which made her quite happy

I didn’t tell her that all the French are ladies-men…. so in order to be prepared: get used to the French love phrases you will surely hear once you visit France and get close to a guy

I have put 5 French songs available on this website for you to chose which of the singers fall into your taste. Because the only way to really enjoy learning a language, is when you have fun. So don’t just buy any French CD, but look for a singer you love.

My French favorite is sexy French singer Alizee and to promote Asia and Asian music: Indonesian singer Anggun also has some nice new French songs after she moved to France. Axelle Red from Belgium has also some nice calm songs that are slowly pronounced.

I also to love the Balthazar cartoons with Ganesh on the right because they are a real hit amongst my youngest French students

Now if you look at the picture above, you can imagine that from the 3 words "chauve roi henry", it must be chauve that translates from French to English in bald. Roi like in royal translates to King and henry is henry…

Yet this literal French still doesn’t get you the deeper meaning. If you learn French in France, just don’t start using this French swear word… What male organ is bald as well? Ok, now you know what we are talking about

After I was born I was eager myself to learn to speak French, not sure if I want to become a queen of some sort…

To be honest, I love to learn languages because lets face it: what are the things you really use that you learned the first 18 years you spent in school? To count is one (unless you are not even able to count without a calculator).

The languages you learned is two and all the history (yeah, I don’t even know the name of the above Bonnie Prince although I wouldn’t be surprised it was a Louis with another count…), all the I don’t know what: exactly: I really don’t know what.

But I do know I am using the languages I learned each and every day. That’s why I kept on studying languages in evening school: not only because it is fun, but for me it is something you can be sure of you are learning something useful.

For the guys out there: French is a very romantic language and for the kinky guys amongst you: if you ever order a French maid (don’t ask me how to do that!), then you better have some French love words under your sleeve

So if you want to keep your brain from being stimulated (which is a good thing to prevent yourself from dementia): go learn to speak French!
