You most likely know the song Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir? And most likely you didn’t know it was written like this…
Main thing is that this French phrase could be stuck in your brain and that’s where you need to capitalize on!
Lot’s of people don’t remember any of the French words they learned in school due to a lack of practice. If that’s the case with you as well, then you could opt to listen to French music.
We downloaded a few French songs there, included one of Celine Dion (oh yes, she is a French speaking Canadian and to be frank before she got famous with her English songs, she was oh so proud to be able to sing in French in stead of English… that’s long before she became a Las Vegas girl, we would advice her now to try the Moulin Rouge …)
Talking of Moulin Rouge: "coucher" translates in English to sleep, so if you didn’t get the hint just listing to the music: this French song Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir is quite… well… for adults
But it carries a lot of useful every day French words in it, so it will pay off if you listen to the song over and over until you remember the title by heart:
- Soir means evening and is commonly used in the greeting Bonsoir. You don’t need translation software to know that it means: good evening.
- Voulez-vous… translates to "Do you want…" and will be heard a lot in the sentence asking: what do you want: "Qu’est-ce que vous voulez? Click the link if you want to practice how to pronounce French words
Whatever you do: if you don’t want to end up in any stranger’s bed, don’t go to France singing Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir in the streets

I find it quite cute that although this blog’s title is French Swear Words, I get a lot of visitors looking for French love phrases
That’s probably the crowd that needs to Learn French Fast because they got themselves a French boyfriend or girlfriend.
Or they are just like me: engaged in a don’t know which language chat room and trying to keep up with the obvious:
- what’s your name,
- where you live and
- at the end of the conversation: what are you wearing
(ideal to study the names of French clothes)
Chatrooms are fun though if you want to practice the French you just learned because it’s very repetitive (like I mentioned above!).
As soon as you can write the obvious perfectly in French, then you can start to make you chatroom conversation longer: 1 sentence at a time. Don’t worry: there will be plenty of "teachers" to help you around
