Alan Ledesma : one Mexican actor less…

Published by French Immersion under Spanish Words

This post should go in my Spanish Words blog, which is sad for 3 reasons:

  • Alan Ledesma passed away from cancer
  • only when people die: you remember that life ends
  • tomorrow I probably forgot about both Alan Ledesma and my Spanish Words blog…

Alan Ledesma

You can read more about Alan Ledesma, well, you just passed it… life is all about passing it seems…

Main thing is that Alan was only 24, suffering from stomach cancer and more than 1 secondary cancers.

Being ill, he gave up his acting job… which means he gave up his income stream. Now we are all students: how much money do you have or will you have when you are 24? Not a lot.

So there you are: enormously sick and no money…

Whatever you do: study hard :

  • to learn how to make enough money and
  • to learn how to live a healthy life

Life can already stop at 24, an age where most students just entered the working arena. So when your health is not there, then what is studying all good for?

Life is not about this or that: do I study, don’t I study, do I work, don’t I work: it’s all about trying to survive in an environment that gets polluted more and more each and every day and nor Obama, Osama, Hillary Clinton nor Bush give a sh$t…

Because for them, it’s all about $$$ and the less people study, the less they know, the more we can promise them without fulfilling our promises…

Learn English in Japan

As usual people prefer to learn a language from a native speaker…

I do have to say that I prefer learning a language from a bi-lingual or more lingual teacher. Why?

Because native speakers most of the time don’t have a feel for the difficulties of their language, nor as for the cultural differences revealed in the language. Which is my advantage when I go back to Malaysia to teach French: I can add the cultural differences and point them out where they are hidden in the language.

For instance; if the French have 1001 words describing the weather, it means that weather is:

  • an important subject to start a conversation
  • quite diversital

Anyway, if you really want to see some cultural differences, seen from an English teacher in Japan : the latest site added to the Add your link directory has a lot of cultural clashes with beautiful pictures though and podcasts: Of Rice and Zen talks about the cultural clashes from a westerner teaching English in Japan :-)
